Lars of Tassla is powerful and ruthless. In a society that has slaves of all types he owns hundreds and he rules them with a tight grip but he is merciful. In his house there is only one thing causing him problems. Katriana, his personal slave, is the epitome of all other slaves. She rejoices in her role as Lars’ slave and tries in every way to make each act a silent testament to her love for him. Lars is aware that as each day passes he becomes more and more attached to Katriana. He refuses to become ensnared by Katriana as some masters become with their slaves. Thus his dilemma: does he sell her or free her and try to win her heart?
